Turks & Caicos is one of the hottest desinations in the Caribbean, however, using points at a hotel there, can be tough. Here are the top ways to stay using your points.
Ranked the #1 Best Places to Visit in the Caribbean for 2023-2024 by US News and World Report, Turks & Caicos is known for its pristine white sand beaches, and incredible snorkeling at the island's many barrier reefs. However, due to its popularity, Turks & Caicos can be significantly more expensive than other Caribbean destinations, especially during peak travel season (October - February).
While getting to Turks & Caicos using airline miles or credit card points, may be easy, finding award-availability at hotels in Turks & Caicos can be especially challenging. If you're looking to make the most out of your Turks & Caicos getaway without breaking the bank, here are the top ways to use points to stay on the island.
Part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), the Point Grace Resort & Spa is currently part of the World of Hyatt program. SLH isn't technically a Hyatt Brand, but rather an independent chain of hotels that markets rooms on Hyatt's website, allowing World of Hyatt members to earn & redeem points at SLH properties. While it was recently announced that SLH is going to be moving to a co-marketing partnership with Hilton (and dropping Hyatt), there's still availability to book SLH properties, including Point Grace Resort and Spa, using your Hyatt Points.
Located on the main-stretch of the 12-mile Grace Bay Beach, this suite-only hotel offers just 28 guest-rooms that has an incredibly intimate & personalized feel. There are two primary dining options on-site, Grace's Cottage, and Hutchings Restaurant, both of which get a great write-up!
When booking SLH properties through the World of Hyatt program, members receive the following benefits: Daily complimentary continental breakfast for two, complimentary wifi, 12 PM check-in (based upon availability), 2 PM late check-out (based upon availability), one category room upgrade (based upon availability).
This property is currently listed as a Category 8 Hyatt, which means that a standard night will cost you 40,000 World of Hyatt points (45,000 points during peak dates). Considering that rooms at this property start at $1,000/night, this can be a great way to use your Hyatt points. While we're not exactly sure how many points this property will cost when the SLH partnership switches over to Hilton, it will almost certainly be more than 40,000, so if you see availability using Hyatt points, I'd recommend taking it.
The Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos was Marriott's first property on the island, and opened recently, in 2021. Before this property opened, there were no options to use your Marriott points on the island. However, if you're looking to just use points & miles for your stay, this is probably the easiest option (although it comes with a high price-tag).
Also located in the heart of Grace Bay Beach, the RItz-Carlton Turks & Caicos has nine room configurations including regular guest-rooms and suites. Additionally, there are four onsite food & beverage options including a fan-favorite, BLT-Steak. Additionally, this resort has multiple pools, and features a spa and casino.
While this resort lis the likely the easiest way to use points for a stay in Turks & Caicos (there's generally pretty good award availability), it can be pricey. A night at this hotel starts at about 120,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, and can cost as many as 180,000 during peak season. Rooms here start at about $1,250, and range all the way up to over $2,500/night, so depending on your travel dates, this could be a great use of points to stay.
Opening in January of 2025, this hotel is a full renovation of the former East Bay Resort located on South Caicos Island (not on the main Grace Bay Beach). This means that the best way to get to the hotel will be by taking a second island-hopper flight from the main airport in the capital Providenciales to South Caicos Island, which takes about 18 minutes. According to the resort's website, there will be direct flights to South Caicos Island from the mainland US beginning in 2024.
One Mile At A Time is reporting that this resort will feature just about 100 guest rooms, indicating that it will likely have more of a boutique feel. While a lot is still unknown about this resort, we are optimistic that it'll add yet another easy way to use your Marriott Bonvoy points for a trip to Turks & Caicos. The Luxury Collection is one of Marriotts premium brands, so we expect these rooms to start in the area of 80,000 points/night. We've searched a few dates on their website and were unable to find the nightly cost in points (or cash), but will update this article when we find availability.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is not a hotel operator, but rather a co-marketing channel for independent boutique hotels. While Mr. & Mrs. Smith was previously available through the IHG OneRewards program, in 2023, the program was acquired by Hyatt. As of June 2023, you can only book this hotel through Hyatt, however, for the dates we searched, we weren't able to find any award availability.
With just ten private suites, this all-inclusive property is the definition of boutique-luxury. According to the hotel's website, "all meals, beverages, non-motorised water sports, flights to/from Providenciales International Airport and dedicated island host service are included in the price of your stay." Additionally, each residence has it's own private plunge pool, with one communal hotel pool on-site.
Finding award availability through Hyatt is definitely difficult. We were able to see the property still listed on IHG, however, according to the terms of the Hyatt acquisition, IHG can no longer sell nights at this resort. If you are able to find award availability, please let us know, so we can update this article and help other travelers.
Similar to Point Grace Resort & Spa, the Sailrock Resort is also part of the Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) program, which is bookable through World of Hyatt (including using World of Hyatt points). When booking SLH properties through the World of Hyatt program, members receive the following benefits: Daily complimentary continental breakfast for two, complimentary wifi, 12 PM check-in (based upon availability), 2 PM late check-out (based upon availability), one category room upgrade (based upon availability).
However, unlike Point Grace Resort & Spa, Sailrock Resort is located off the main Grace Bay Beach strip, and on South-Caicos Island, which requires an 18-minute island-hopper flight from the main airport in Providenciales. With an infinity pool, sun deck, and spa, this property is a great way to unwind. This property offers three categories of rooms: Ridgetop Suites, Beachfront Villas, and Private Peninsula Villas.
While availability through the World of Hyatt program is limited, finding award-availability can be a great value. As this property is classified as a Hyatt Category 8 hotel, rooms cost at just 40,000 points/night, which is a steal, considering cash-rates start at over $1,000/night.
Turks & Caicos is notoriously one of the most challenging locations to use your points at hotels. Prior to the Ritz Carlton opening in 2021, there were nearly no options to use your points. However, with the upcoming opening of the Salterra, and the (rumored) Andaz Turks & Caicos, hopefully there'll be more great ways to use points for your upcoming trip to Turks & Caicos. If you want to search for your exact dates to see if there's any points availability, use the AwardTravel hotel search to find hotel availability.
